Boy, the Columbus Blue Jackets players aren’t happy about Mike Reilly signing with the Minnesota Wild, and they’re not shy about it either. The 21-year old Minnesota native was selected 98th overall in the 2011 NHL draft by the Blue Jackets.

However, he opted not to sign with Columbus, freeing him to sign elsewhere, similar to Justin Schultz (2012) and Kevin Hayes (Last Summer).

From the StarTribune’s Mike Russo:

The Mike Reilly sweepstakes are coming to an end this afternoon and unless something backfires, he will be signing with the Wild.

Sources say that Reilly will sign a two-year, $1.85 million deal plus bonuses. The Chicago Blackhawks were supposedly the original leaders in the Mike Reilly sweepstakes with the Rangers not far behind, however both seem to had fallen out due to cap issues.

Then came the rain of child-like subtweets from the Blue Jackets players, starting with Ryan Johansen

However, Not every Columbus Blue Jackets player has submitted a bitter tweet about Mike Reilly, but some of them seem a little…..immature?

On June 17, as Ryan Johansen simply said “We didn’t want him anyway.”, it’s not like we know the reason for this tweet is Mike Reilly’s departure, but then came the other tweets.

Final thought of the holiday….Mike Reilly made a tough choice …#werenotincollege#burntbridges#CBJ>#MNW#werule#gopherssuck

This we can assume is about Mike Reilly considering his name is in it, Dubinsky spent no time trying to hide the reasoning and/or purpose of this tweet. Mike Reilly also played for the Gophers so in true #RageQuit fashion, Dubinsky pokes fun at them as well. It’s straight and to the point. Many athletes tend to keep things to themselves. Johansen was not so shy.

But wait, there’s more.

Johansen’s tweet had obviously raised some eye brows, and he even responded to some tweets from fans.

@SelkeSmooth Yea played in more round of them the you have and more games general….#iwinasalways

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Michael Russo wondered if Fourth Of July…… activities were involved.

Some players should have a Twitter curfew

- Michael Russo (@RussoTrib)5 Jul 2015

It’s all in good fun as The Blue Jackets face Minnesota in a preseason game on Sep. 24, then in two regular season games on Oct. 22nd and Jan. 5th Perhaps some Twitter rage get’s taken out on the ice?  You never know what may ensue from these keyboard warriors,  but I wouldn’t recommend messing with them on the ice either.

What do you think about all of this? Let me know in the comments below!
